Renée Smith-Maddox

Renée Smith-Maddox, Ph.D., Clinical Associate Professor and Vice Chair of the Department of Community, Organization, and Business Innovation of the School of Social Work at the University of Southern California. She teaches social policy, management, social change, and program evaluation courses for the Virtual Academic Center’s online Master of Social Work program. As Vice Chair, Professor Smith-Maddox provides leadership and oversight in the areas of curriculum development and instructional design.  She is also the co-chair for the School’s Diversity Committee and the Black Social Work Caucus. Her primary professional and research focus is exploring and developing ways to implement innovative andragogical approaches that engage students to solve large-scale problems, enhance their capacity for social change, and develop skills for building communities of practice for sustainable innovation.
